Or you can experience the ocean differently.

For me, diving has never been just about going underwater. It has been about connection, adventure, conservation, photography, and creating experiences that stay with you long after you leave the water.

That is the idea behind Made in Water.

My Story: From Diver to Underwater Photographer

I’m Pia, an underwater photographer, dive instructor, ocean lover, and founder of Made in Water.

My relationship with the ocean has taken me around the world, but The Bahamas became home to my work and one of the places where I truly understood what I wanted to create.

I didn’t want to build another dive operation focused simply on taking people underwater.

I wanted to create personalized ocean experiences where people could feel connected to the environment, challenge themselves, encounter incredible marine life, and come home with memories that actually tell a story.

Over the years, diving evolved into much more than a passion for me. It became my career, my creative outlet, and a huge part of who I am.

Today, my work combines scuba diving, underwater photography, freediving, marine life encounters, conservation, and adventure.

And every time I get on a boat, I still feel incredibly lucky that this is what I get to do.

At Made in Water, I don’t want you to feel like another name on a manifest.

2. The Bahamas is my playground

The Bahamas offers some of the most extraordinary diving in the world.

From shark encounters and blue holes to wrecks, reefs, caves and incredible visibility, there is an enormous variety of underwater environments to explore.

But knowing a destination is about more than knowing where the dive sites are.

It’s knowing when to go, what conditions to look for, where the marine life tends to be, how to approach animals responsibly, and how to make the most of the conditions on the day.

That’s where experience matters.

3. I bring an underwater photographer’s perspective

One of the biggest differences between diving with me and joining a standard dive trip is that I naturally see the ocean through a photographer’s eyes.

I’m constantly looking at:

Light. Composition. Marine life. Movement. Backgrounds. Perspective.

If you’re interested in underwater photography, I’ll help you think about the dive differently — from where you position yourself to how you approach an animal and how you use the available light.

And if you’re not a photographer?

That’s okay too.

You might simply end up with photographs that make you say, “Wait… that’s actually me underwater?”

Sharks Changed Everything

Sharks have played a huge role in my journey as a diver and photographer.

I’ve spent years diving with sharks and learning to appreciate these incredible animals not as something to fear, but as an essential part of healthy ocean ecosystems.

There is something incredibly powerful about being underwater with a shark.

You realize very quickly that you’re entering their world.

That perspective changes you.

My goal is always to create encounters that are exciting while respecting the animals and the environment we are visiting.

Because the best shark encounter isn’t just the one that gives you an amazing photograph.

It’s the one that leaves you with a deeper understanding of the animal.

More Than Diving: My Work Underwater

My work has also taken me into the world of underwater modeling and creative photography.

I’ve photographed people underwater in flowing dresses, mermaid-inspired concepts, freediving environments, caves, reefs, and open ocean.

These shoots have taught me that underwater photography is about much more than simply pressing the shutter.

It requires communication, patience, safety, creativity, and an understanding of how the human body moves underwater.

And that’s why I love combining adventure with creativity.

One day I might be photographing a shark.

The next, I’m underwater with a woman in a red dress.

And somehow, both feel completely natural to me.

Creating Space for Women in the Ocean

Another important part of my work is creating experiences specifically for women.

Through Boss Bitch Divers, I bring women together through diving, adventure, photography, shark encounters, and retreats.

I’ve seen how transformative it can be when women are given the opportunity to try something that initially feels intimidating — whether that’s scuba diving, freediving, swimming with sharks, or simply feeling confident underwater.

The ocean has a way of reminding us how capable we are.

And I want more women to experience that.

A Dive With Me Is Personal

I believe the best diving experiences aren’t necessarily the ones with the most impressive itinerary.

They are the ones where you emerge from the water thinking:

“That was incredible.”

Maybe it was your first encounter with a shark, or you finally overcame something that made you nervous.

Maybe you saw a turtle swimming straight toward you and got the photo you had always dreamed of.

Or maybe you simply spent an hour underwater feeling completely present.

Those moments are the reason I do this.
